Error:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

Cause:

This occurs when pressing F1 to open Help in Word and no file is currently open in Word. Word shuts down and any changes to NORMAL.DOT are lost. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word 7.0. This problem has been corrected in Word 7.0a.

Solution:

Make sure a document is open when pressing F1 to access Word Help.
